Availability of appropriately skilled labour is a major concern of all businesses in Newfoundland and Labrador. As such, it is the top priority for the Business Coalition from 2008 onwards.  The Coalition has as part of its workplan the creation of greater awareness among its members of options for improving the supply of skilled labour.  The Coalition has provided awareness presentations on immigration strategies, temporary foreign worker programs, labour market support programs, outcomes from the skills task force, etc.

The NL Business Coalition is also in the process of developing a tool kit on recruitment and retention for use by all employers in the province.  Approximately 150 employers participated in focus groups in nine regions of the province to have input to what that tool kit should contain.

The tool kit is expected to be released early in 2010.
